Letter to Cousin

Dear Anne, January 14, 2008

Your last letter was awesome! It is great to hear that your swelling has gone down. I remember the last time you were pregnant, your feet looked like eggplants before Sage was born. I hope you continue to feel better and less bulged.

I am up in Logan and loving every minute of it. The snow and ice are annoying but my studies are keeping me happy. I decided on majoring in public relations. Many people do not know what public relations is and I wanted to tell you about it. Public relations is a fairly new field of study and very innovative. The program teaches me how to communicate with a purpose. I am learning how to develop a thought, process it into a message and then present that message as a personally tailored message, appealing to a specific group. Public relations is all about understanding. I have to understand the needs of consumers and convince them that they need what I am promoting. It is not marketing because marketing focuses on selling products while public relations promotes selling the company. The public relations side deals a lot more with the heart instead of the brain of the customer.

I have an internship this semester that will help me understand public relations even more. I will be the public relations and marketing director for the Cache Regional Theatre Company. I am excited for this chance to explore this field. I got the part of the beast in Beauty and the Beast with this company and am looking forward to making this show awesome both on and off the stage. I have been organizing publicity events, designing posters and arranging sponsors for the show. It will be spectacular when it is all done!

I hope to hear from you soon. Please send me love to Uncle Melvin and Aunt Beulah.

Love,

Lee
